Day 28 Prompt: Write a Story Only Using Dialogue
“Hey Eric – could I chat with you in my office really quickly?”
“Oh! Um, yes… like, right now?”
“Yeah, if you have some time, it should be pretty quick.”
“There you are, Eric, please grab a seat.”
“Hi Mr. Robertson, um, what can I help you with?”
“Well, as you know, we are really focused on expanding our large home appliance sector.”
“…Right…”
“And that means that we are looking at reorganizing some of our other departments.”
“…Ok…”
“Look, Eric, this isn’t easy…”
“Oh my God – are you firing me?”
“We are categorizing this as a layoff.”
“What’s the difference? I mean, with all do respect, I won’t have a job tomorrow!”
“Eric, as I said, this isn’t easy for any of us…”
“Sorry, Mr. Robertson, but I’m just going to head home. I’m just a little… sorry, this is so surreal. Thanks…”
